During my residency in Moks, Centre for art and social practice, Mooste, Estonia this year I did some drawings.

The bridle broke

Nervous Around Horses proved to be a very challenging piece to install. The Vets office had some difficulties with it - the challenges of showing work in a public space takes all parties involved to be open to it. However, miscommunications led to the work being lost in the politics. Im grateful however to the Pets shop for hosting it with such welcome.

Liquid -Vedelik come to Ennistymon

The Estonian based art group came to Ennistymon this August for a week to partake in the Power of Local, a cultural festival.

"Pink Wall, Parliment Street, Ennistymon" was the final intervention orchestrated by myself with everyone present invited to make a huge map of the art links, naming the places we are all linked to through our art projects.

Throughout the weekend the shared sense of creativity buzzed and filled our hearts. I showed my performance piece on video "Raadi airport" that was made in Tartu, 2010.

Michael Walsh created an installation in a disused shop, using

100 empty flour bags that he had previously designed for a flour company in Estonia.

Nervous around Horses

An invitation to partake in the West Cork arts festival this July has inspired a new soundscape, sourced in the body, expressed through the voice. Nervous around horses is a sound installation of live recordings of my engagement with Robert, my nieces 13.2 pony. I have been trying to learn to horse ride again for the past month. This requires facing my fear. I love horses but am nervous around them. I discovered that I talk continuously to the pony. Ive always been in awe of the farrier, PJ Connole who has been shoeing our ponies for 25 years. I listened to him and witnessed his calmness and control as he spoke to Robert while shoeing him. This is the first recording. The second part is a live recording of me saddling and riding Robert, a strange day that put a limit to my horse riding. The bridle broke. Robert snapped the bit from the lead and broke the bridle.

Residency in Moks

From April 1 to the 5 may I spent a fantastic time at MoKS, centre for art and social practice, in Mooste, Estonia.
During my time there I drew, worked with Jaan Ulst to create a site specific dance and gave workshops on embodied movement. I really enjoyed holding the space with a dozen 6 year olds from the village.

I worked as director with dancer Jaan Ulst and sourced a site for his piece. Performed in a huge old soviet ex-communist barntwice infront of mainly an audience of children on 31 April, witches night in Mooste, Estonia. Working with the found elements of texture and light as the space was explored through embodied choreographed movement.
